— Police arrested a man this week who is accused of attacking a cook at a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill fraternity house.

The 39-year-old victim was working at the Beta Theta Pi house, at 114 S. Columbia St., around 1:30 p.m. Monday when she answered a knock at a basement kitchen door from a man claiming to be there to do work, police said.

Before she could verify his claims, investigators said, he grabbed her, forced her into a nearby bathroom and threatened to kill her.

Fraternity members at the house heard her screaming, tackled the man and held him down until police arrived.

Troy Deshane Watson, 34, was charged with assault on a female, communicating threats, kidnapping and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The woman, who was not identified, suffered bruising but was otherwise unharmed physically, police said.
