When he participates in the annual MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM Radiothon live from the lobby of Duke Children’s Health Center, MIX 101.5 Afternoon Drive Host Jim Kelly will be sharing a personal connection.

Jim has helped with the Radiothon every year since he joined the MIX 101.5 team in 2000, never realizing that one day he and his wife, Tara, would need Duke Children’s Hospital.

During 2017 edition of the two-day, live broadcast event, listeners will hear heart-warming stories from parents, kids and Duke Children’s staff, including Jim's recollection of his family's time at Duke Children's for the birth of twins Aiden and Olivia, who arrived 14 weeks premature.

MIX 101.5’s Radiothon is not only one of Duke Children’s most successful and visible fundraisers and one of the longest running radiothons in the nation, it is one of the largest per capita radiothons IN THE WORLD! In 22 years, MIX 101.5’s listeners and community partners have helped to raise over $18 million for Duke Children’s Hospital. Notably, 100 percent of listener donations go to support programs and services for patients and their families.

MIX 101.5 will broadcast live from Duke Children's 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, raising money to help ensure every child receives the best possible care and support.

Duke Children's is a nationally ranked pediatrics program and international referral center, and the only children’s hospital in North Carolina to be ranked in all ten specialties by U.S. News and World Report, Duke Children’s is respected for delivering the most advanced, comprehensive care available. Children from 25 countries and 6 continents have received treatment at Duke Children’s Hospital.
