A gel nail polish remover is being recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because methylene chloride and chloroform were found in the product.
The recall published April 13 is for Morovan gel nail polish remover, which comes in a 15 mL (0.5fl.oz) square turquoise bottle with a white cap in a matching green packaging box. The product was sold on Amazon.com rom August 2025 to January 2026.

The polish remover was manufactured in China with a production date of 02-07-2024 and an expiration date of 02-07-2027.
No injuries have been reported.
The presence of the chemicals is harmful "because it has been shown to cause cancer in animals and is likely harmful to human health," the recall reads. "Methylene chloride is a prohibited ingredient which is not allowed in cosmetics at any level under FDA regulations."
People should stop using the product immediately and throw it in the trash. Consumers are asked to label the product "recalled" in clear lettering. Before discarding the polish remover, people should take a photo of the product and email it to: customer-service@morovan.com.
