Hyundai recalls nearly 300,000 vehicles over seatbelt issue

Hyundai is recalling 290,000 for a defect that could cause seatbelt anchors to fail.

The National Highway Safety Transportation Administration said the issue could increase your risk of injury in a crash.

Four Hyundai models are impacted: the Ioniq 6, the Genesis G-90, the Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Hybrid. Nearly 300,000 vehicles are affected between model years 2023 and 2026.

Hyundai dealers will inspect the seatbelt anchors free of charge and replace them if necessary. Owners should receive letters in the mail about this in June.

Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 855-371-9460. Be sure to have the last four digits of your vehicle's identification number (VIN) when you call.

Last month, Hyundai said it would stop selling 2026 Hyundai Palisade Limited and Calligraphy trims after a child's death. According to Hyundai,  the second- and third-row power seats may not detect people or objects.
