Construction completed a day early, section of I-40 reopens

Construction that was scheduled for this weekend on Interstate 40 has been completed a day early. As of 8 a.m., the construction project on Interstate 40 where construction crews were taking down a bridge that hung over a highway is over.

Three major detours – the closure of ramps and of a section of Interstate 40 near Raleigh-Durham International Airport – was in place this weekend as a part of ongoing work by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Law enforcement was directing two lanes of traffic up and down the on and off ramps at the Aviation Parkway that kept vehicles from driving under the bridge.
