RALEIGH, N.C. — The construction company that renovated the Capitol Broadcasting Company/WRAL headquarters in Raleigh was honored with an industry award for its work on the project.

Barnhill Contracting Co. received a Carolinas Associated General Contractors Construction Excellence Award on Saturday.

The award recognizes “projects of distinction,” according to Carolinas AGC, that illustrate best practice and excellence of craft.

The CBC/WRAL project included adding 12,000 square feet to the headquarters and renovating 14,000 square feet of existing space.

The headquarters includes two TV studios and the main control room for all CBC broadcasts. During the 11-month renovation period, construction activities were suspended or performed with minimal disruption during broadcast times.

No broadcasts or media productions were affected by the construction.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the AGC and our industry peers,” said Randy Fichera, Streamline Division vice president with Barnhill. “I am proud of each member of our team who delivered exceptional quality to our client and who are a fantastic representation of our company.”
