RALEIGH, N.C. — Morning low temperatures will tick up slightly over the weekend, but the heat won't rise enough to scorch the final weekend of the North Carolina State Fair.

The high temperature on Saturday and Sunday will rise to 78 degrees, with lows lingering in the mid-50s to low 60s. With no chance of rain, the weekend will be a good time to get outside.

"With this weekend forecast, hopefully you can find something wonderful to do," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

7-Day Forecast
People heading to the mountains will get similar temperatures, but it will be partly cloudy with a chance of showers. The recent streak of sub-freezing nights in the western part of the state has also started painting mid-range elevations with fall color.

"The color in the mountains is looking good from (3,000) to 5,000 feet," Gardner said. "So, Boone is at about 3,000 feet, so from Boone up to about 5,000 feet it's looking good.

"But from 5,000 feet up—so, we're talking about Mount Mitchell or Clingman's Dome, Grandfather Mountain—the color is already gone there, which is typical this time of year."

But color watchers beware: Blue Ridge Parkway officials expect this weekend to be the busiest of the year.

The beaches will provide another pleasant retreat as the skies stay clear and air temperatures warm to the high 70s to low 80s.

The next chance of rain around the Triangle region will come late Monday and move out on Wednesday.
