Collision on I-95 sends five to hospital

A collision Sunday between two vehicles in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Cumberland County sent five people to area hospitals and briefly backed up traffic.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A collision Sunday between two vehicles in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Cumberland County sent five people to area hospitals and briefly backed up traffic.

According to the state Highway Patrol, Diane Fagione, of New York, swerved across both lanes, clipped another car and went off the road to the right. The second car flipped and landed in the median.

Fagione and her passenger, Andrew Hildebrandt, also of New York, we not injured.

All five people in the second car, a family from Whiteville, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

Troopers charged Fagione with failure to maintain lane control and reckless operation of a vehicle.
