I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell in the severe weather center. It was a gorgeous day outside 68 at R D U 70 in Fayetteville after starting the morning in the thirties, a big temperature recovery. But we've got big changes coming unfortunately. And we have declared a w weather alert day ahead of those changes on Saturday for a few reasons. First, the winds, we will see a widespread threat of winds gusting between 40 and 50 MPH and this does not include thunderstorms. It's just going to be a very windy day though. We could see a few isolated storms in our eastern counties. Rain would be the more widespread impact and with dream happening this weekend and may be briefly impacted by the rain. Let's begin by talking about the winds. It begins to get windy tomorrow. Winds could gust 30 to 35 MPH during the day, Friday. But Saturday, the winds will be whipping. We're talking winds 40 to 50 MPH. Can't rule out some isolated power outages with winds like this. So, beware of the winds on Saturday, we're also going to be watching for some rain. Friday's rain chances, relatively low. If we see any rain, it would just be quick spotty light showers. It would be very low impact rain. We could see some of those showers during the afternoon and evening hours. So a heads up if you do have outdoor plans, it wouldn't hurt to have an umbrella or a poncho. Not a big threat though. Saturday, we're going to be watching this line of showers and perhaps some storms roll through. It moves close to the western part of our area by eight ami think best rain chances would be from about 10 AM to noon in the triangle. And we could see those showers last through about two o'clock in Raleigh. But that would be really on the later scale there for the rain. Most of those showers to the east of our viewing area by 34 o'clock. And then we can take to clear out after that. We actually have sunshine for the second part of the day, but it will be windy even once the rain is gone. As for the storm throughout the eastern part of our area, including Wayne County, as well as Sampson County and Cumberland County. That's where we have the potential for some strong damaging winds and thunderstorms. It would be very isolated, not a huge concern there. Dream about a 60% chance for rain at noon, a 30% chance by two o'clock that you're good to go. We should be nice and dry for the headliners clearing out quickly with comfortable temperatures. 81 the high on Saturday, 66 with dry weather expected on Sunday, the Bulls are back in town. The Durham Bulls home opener is tomorrow evening, a 30% chance of a quick shower. No big deal. I'm going to be out there myself. I really don't think it's going to be impacting the rain the game much at all. We don't expect any lightning Saturday, a quick shower for the start, the game possible, but the rest of the game looks great. 74 degrees and Sunday should be beautiful. 65 kids can run the bases after the game over the next seven days. We've got some ups and downs to talk about temperatures going up through Saturday. But the system that brings the wind and the rain Saturday, that's a cold front. So back in the mid 60 s for highs by Sunday and then next week, temperatures climb back into the seventies and eighties again. We've been out three days in a row in the eighties.

HE'S MADE THE POSSIBILITY OF AN INDICTMENT ALMOST A PLANK OF HIS CAMPAIGN PLATFORM ARGUING THAT ANY INDICTMENT IN NEW YORK OR ANY OF THE OTHER INVESTIGATIONS IN WHICH WE KNOW HIM TO BE A TARGET WOULD BE, IN HIS WORDS, ELECTION INTERFERENCE, AN EFFORT BY DEMOCRATIC DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OR PROSECUTORS WITH THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TO DO WHAT A POLITICAL PROCESS COULDN'T AND KNOCK HIM OUT OF THIS RACE. THAT, TO ME, STILL SEEMS LIKE A VIABLE SET OF CHARGES THAT COULD APPEAR ON THE INDICTMENT, EVEN THOUGH REPORTEDLY THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF ATTENTION BY THE GRAND JURY ON THE STORMY DANIELS HUSH MONEY PAUMTS. >> THIS IS WHERE IT GETS STICKY. MY UNDERSTANDING IS GRAND JURIES ARE SECRETIVE. THE INFORMATION IS CLOSE HELD. THE FACT THAT WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW NOW, DOES IT AFFECT THE DEFENSE? IT THEY KNOW THAT ALVIN BRAGG HAD TO PUSH THIS ROCK UPHILL GET THIS INDICTMENT, WHAT DOES THAT SIGNAL TO THE DEFENSE? >> EXACTLY RIGHT. WE MAY NOT KNOW WHAT WENT ON EXACTLY IN THE GRAND JURY ROOM. WE HAVE THE BENEFIT OF, FOR EXAMPLE, MARK POMERANZ, A MEMBER OF THE DA'S OFFICE WHO WROTE A TELL-ALL BOOK THAT GAVE US A PRETTY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT THE PUSH AND PULL WAS BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. NOT IN THE GRAND JURY ROOM ITSELF, BUT AMONG PROSECUTORS IN THE DA'S OFFICE. SO I THINK THAT YOU MIGHT FIND THAT THAT'S THE KIND OF BOOK THAT NOT ONLY MADE THE CASE FOR INDICTING TRUMP, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT ALSO BY GIVING THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN, THE OTHER PROSECUTOR ASKS THEIR ARGUMENTS, IT GAVE THE DEFENSE A BLUEPRINT FOR HOW TO PROCEED. SO THIS AND OTHER PRESSURE MAY HAVE HASTENED THIS INDICTMENT, ALTHOUGH IT'S DIFFICULT TO SAY THIS WAS A HASTILY PUT TOGETHER INDICTMENT, BECAUSE IT TOOK YEARS. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS RUSHED INTO. ALTHOUGH, MANY QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THESE ARE THE STRONGEST POTENTIAL CHARGES AGAINST DONALD TRUMP. IF THE STRONGER CHARGES MIGHT NOT BE THOSE IN GEORGIA POTENTIALLY OR FROM THE FEDERAL INVESTIGATION LED BY ESSENTIAL COUNSEL. >> DANNY, STANDBY AS WE CONTINUE OUR COVERAGE. THIS WAS MADE IN THE PERSONAL CAPACITY OF DONALD TRUMP AND NOT, IN FACT, AS PART OF A CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURE. THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO PORTRAY MICHAEL COHEN, WHO WAS A KEY WITNESWHO TESTIFIED REPEATEDLY TO THE GRAND JURY IN THIS CASE, AS A LIAR. AND SOMEBODY WHO SIMPLY IS NOT CREDIBLE. WE HAVE SEEN THAT ALREADY FROM DONALD TRUMP AGAIN AND AGAIN ON HIS PLATFORM TRUTH SOCIAL. AND THEY WILL PROBABLY POINT TO SOME STATEMENTS MADE BY A FORMER MEMBER OF THE PREVIOUS MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S TEAM TO TRY TO SAY THAT EVEN SOME FORMER MEMBERS OF THIS TEAM DID NOT THINK THERE WAS ENOUGH IN THIS CASE TO ACTUALLY PROSECUTE. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE HEARD FROM THE LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES OF FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP ALREADY AS FAR AS THE POLITICAL IMPACT OF THIS. THE BASE OF DONALD TRUMP HAS BEEN STICKY. AND BY THAT I MEAN THEY HAVE STUCK WITH HIM THROUGH A LOT OF THIS. THESE HUSH MONEY PAYMENT ALLEGATIONS CALM OUT PRIOR TO THE 2016 ELECTION AND DONALD TRUMP STILL ENDED UP IN THE WHITE HOUSE. THE QUESTION WE'LL BE LOOKING FOR AS IT RELATES TO THE 2024 CAMPAIGN IS WHAT DO HIS CURRENT OPPONENTS AND POTENTIAL REPUBLICAN OPPONENTS DO AND ABOUT THIS. THERE'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF EYES ON FLORIDA GOVERNOR RON DeSANTIS WHO ARE IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE LEADING FRONT RUNNER AGAINST DONALD TRUMP IN THE PRIMARY. EVEN THOUGH HE HASN'T EVEN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED HE'S RUNNING YET. THERE'S A LOT OF SPECULATION THAT HE WILL. HOW MIGHT HE THREAD THE NEEDLE ON THIS UNPRECEDENTED INDICTMENT AGAINST A FORMER PRESIDENT. >> HALLIE JACKSON, HANG IN THERE. LET ME GO TO POLITICAL DIRECTOR CHUCK TODD. THIS HAS BEEN SOMETHING ALVIN BRAGG WHEN HE WAS RUNNING TO BE THE DEMOCRATIMINEE TO BE THE NEXT MANHATTAN DA, THIS WAS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN DIALOGUE THERE. SO THIS WAS ALWAYS INTERTWINED WITH POLITICS. AND DONALD TRUMP HAS BEEN SOME MIGHT CALL IT GASLIGHTING. OTHERS MIGHT CALL IT PREPARING HIS BASE FOR THIS MO ARGUABLY FOR YEARS, THEY ARE ALWAYS OUT TO GET ME, REALIZE THAT WHEN THEY ARE COMING AFTER ME, THEY ARE COMING AFTER YOU. AND WHEN YOU LK AT JUST ALL THE VARIOUS WAYS THAT THIS HAS BEEN POLLED, WHEN YOU TALK TO VARIOUS REPUBLICAN STRATEGISTS ABOUT WAYS THEY HAVE ALREADY POLLED THIS, DOES AN INDICTED DONALD TRUMP, IS HE WEAKER IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, AND IT'S NOT CLEAR HE IS. THE QUESTION I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ON THIS IS IF HE ACCUMULATES INDICTMENTS, THIS IS THE FIRST SHOE TO FALL. IF THESE ACCUMULATING INDICTS, DOES THAT BECOME THE WAY VOTERS SAY WE LIKE YOU, DONALD TRUMP, BUT YOU CAN'T WIN. THAT HASN'T HAPPENED, THOUGH. THE ONLY RATIONAL I HAVE HEARD A REPUBLICAN TRY TO MAKE AGAINST DONALD TRUMP WITHOUT TRYING TO ATTACK HIM HAS BEEN, HEY, HE'S LOST THREE TIMES. 2018, 2020, 2022, EITHER HE OR HIS IDEAS HAVE LOST AT THE BALLOT BOX. HE'S THE REPUBLICAN MOST LIKELY TO LOSE TO BIDEN. BUT THE PROBLEM IS HIS VOTERS DON'T BELIEVE IT. HE'S CONVINCD VOTERS HE DIDN'T LOSE IN 2020. SO THEY CAN'T EVEN USE THAT ARGUMENT EFFECTIVELY THAT HE ALREADY LOST ONCE. SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW VOTERS REACT TO NOW THAT HE ACTUALLY IS INDICTED. AND WHEN YOU SEE THE MUG SHOT, YOU SEE ALL THOSE THINGS. BUT I DO THINK WE OUGHT TO JUDGE HIS DURABILITY HERE NOT AFTER THIS INDICTMENT, IF ANOTHER ONE COMES OUT OF GEORGIA AND D.C., THAT'S WHEN WE'LL FIND OUT TRULY HOW POLITICALLY DURABLE HE IS. >> WHAT'S THE PROGRESS OF THOSE OTHER INVESTIGATIONS, WHICH ARE ARGUABLY MORE SERIOUS CHARGES. >> IT'S INTERESTING. THE ONE OBVIOUSLY IN GEORGIA, THE SPECIAL GRAND JURY PRODUCE ED A REPORT. TRUMP'S ATTORNEYS HAVE TACKED THAT PROCESS AND TRIED TO QUASH THAT REPORT. THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY THERE HAD SAID AT SOME POINT IT WAS EMINENT, BUT THAT WAS WEEKS AGO. SO THE TIMETABLE ON THAT IS NOT AT ALL CLEAR. IT'S NOT GOING TO TAKE PLACE ANYWHERE NEAR AS CLOSE AS THIS ONE IS. THE CHARGES, AS YOU MENTIONED, ARE DIFFERENT. AND HAS TO DIRECTLY DO WITH HIM TRYING TO GET THE SECRETARY OF STATE OF GEORGIA TO ATTACK THE CENTER OF DEMOCRACY. >> WE WANT TO GO JONATHAN DEAN, WHO BROKE IT. Forsyth Technical Community College has closed campus and all classes are canceled for the remainder of the week, according to a tweet posted by the college.

City limits information that I have to share with you today is in reference to the event at Forsyte Community College on today's date which is March 30 th around 10 10. This morning, Winston Town Police Department received a call for service in reference to an individual who had been shot on the campus for Community College. And that would be the main campus located on Silas Creek Parkway. Officers responded to assist Forsyth Tech Community College public Safety officers. I can confirm at this time that this was not an active shooter situation on this campus. We did identify one victim that was transported to a local facility for treatment of a non life threatening injury. This is an active investigation. We're still trying to determine exactly how we came to be at Forsyth Tech and what generated this particular situation. Um I can confirm at this point that the Winston Salem Forsyth County students that were on Forsyth Tech Community College campus have been returned to their respective schools at this point and none of them were injured. There will be a follow up news conference at five PM this evening. It will be at the Almond center lobby on Forsyth Technical Community College campus. And that's located at 2100 Solace Creek Parkway. The campus is locked down for Forsyth Tech Community College has been lifted as well. Captain, can you tell us the injury suffered? Is that a gunshot wound? It was related to a gunshot wound? That is correct. That information will be released this evening at the five o'clock press conference, there was a shooting on campus and one person was injured as a result of that shooting was that inside the building? So more information will be provided at the five o'clock. I can tell you that the individual that sought treatment was treatment for a gunshot wound and it's non life threatening. Again, the investigation is active and ongoing. So we are still determining exactly what happened. I can tell you there is not an active shooter situation. This was not that and we do not believe that we have anyone at large that is a danger to the community at 10 30. There was a text by continue to show their two armed dangerous black and male suspects are still at large wearing gray black hoodies. What was the source of that information that came from Forsyte Community College? So that would be information that they would be providing at this point. Um I'm not at liberty to provide that information just because it's an active investigation. No one has been arrested at this time. I'm sorry, do we know if the victim was uh it was male, if you can't captain, the major concern that you have right now, what is that the safety of the community and the knowledge that at this point we do not believe there is an active threat to the community or an active continual threat to this campus. Again, the case is under an active investigation and hopefully we'll be able to provide some additional information at 5:00. Is there anything that the people listening and hearing can do to help? Are you asking for assistance? Um If you were on the campus of Forsyth Tech and you have information that is relevant to your experience in this particular incident, then we would like for you to share that and there's different ways you can do it, you can call us. We also have an outlet for videos to be uploaded through our real time Crime Center and other avenues. So if you have information that you were on campus and you would like to share, we would ask for you to share that our real time Crime Center has a website where you can upload information and see something, say something. So just to clarify, there's no one at large that people should be worried about that might be a threat to their safety. That is correct. If you can any time you have bullets flying and it's in a dense area like the college, university, people in classrooms. And what have you, there has to be a lot of concern about who else could be injured. Can you speak to us about that? So the response of the Winston is police department was swift. We had officers nearby the campus on an unrelated manner. So we were able to get officers in place to be able to do a systematic search of the campus to ensure that we were not only accounting for the students that were normally supposed to be on campus, but also identifying any, any additional victims and or suspect concerns. It sounds like we could be fortunate when you've got some people milling around and someone is shot on campus that no one unintended. If we're not looking for active shooter, that no one unintended or uninvolved. Can you talk to us about that? Well, again, at this point, I just wanted to give you just some preliminary information to ask a couple questions and I appreciate your time with that um, for any additional questions and answers. Hopefully, we'll be able to supply more comprehensive information at the five o'clock news conference. All right. Thank you all. Drivers cruise down Oberlin Road in Raleigh every day without even realizing they're driving past a nearly century-old secret garden.

Hi there. I'm W R L's hidden historian Heather Leah. And today I am very excited to show you around a secret garden hidden right here in Raleigh. And I'm in the garden right now. It's closed off to the public. It's on private property, but they're going to open it for one day only this weekend. They're letting me show you around this garden is nearly a century old. It's been on private property. It has an incredible story behind it. It's absolutely beautiful. So I'm going to go ahead and start showing you around. I'm standing on Oberlin Road where drivers are passing by every single day without even realizing that behind this curtain of ivy is hidden. A secret world. Many people don't realize that Raleigh has a secret garden and it's almost a century old. You could see these cobblestone pathways here just through this gate, which is normally closed to the public. There's a garden that has been tended for almost a century. Uh Not many things in Raleigh have been around for over a century, but the home here is from the 1800s and the gardens were planted in the 1930s and they've been kept alive and growing ever since then. And I'm very excited that today they actually opened the gardens just to let me in so that I could take a look around before the crowds arrive on Sunday. So this Sunday, April 2nd for one day only, they're opening these gardens to the public. And so this private enclave, this oasis that's hidden very close to downtown Raleigh, right in historic Oberlin will be open to the public and you'll be able to see it for yourself. But today, they wanted to let me come through and give you a preview of what these gardens look like. And really, I've seen pictures, the gardens look very similar uh to how they looked in the 1930s and 40s. Now, these gardens were planted by a woman named Isabelle Bowen Henderson and this is the woman that grew a garden that lasted 100 years and hopefully longer. And I will tell you as we look at these beautiful bulbs and these flowers and these, these, this is actually the older part of the garden. This was originally part of a, a separate garden, but also in the family. And when they sold off that property, Isabel took a part of that garden over so you can see little flowers growing like little fairies just hovering above this old cobblestone, this kind of wild look, this, this sense of it's green and it's tended, but it's not kept perfect. And perfectly sheared and clipped, but rather allowed to grow a little bit outside the lines to color outside the lines if you will. Uh, that was part of Isabelle's, uh, personality and her charm. Uh, she didn't want to have the perfectly pruned garden. She wanted to have color and, and greenery and these meandering cobblestone and brick pathways. Um, but she was inspired by the gardens that she saw in Williamsburg. Now, she was an artist if you couldn't tell from looking at her gardens here and honestly learning about her, she was a pretty incredible person. Um She grew up in Raleigh in the early 1900s and she became a portrait artist. And during an era and again, this is, this is her home really frozen in time here. Uh Because the descendants have kept the home up and have kept the gardens up. Again, a lot of things in Raleigh don't last um over 100 years in this exact same way, but this private oasis has really stood the test of time anyways, she was a woman uh that she sounded incredible. Um First of all, if, if you grew up in Raleigh, you may even have a portrait by her. I've met several people who did um her, she was single, uh she did get married, but uh her husband and her marriage did not work out. Uh And so in a time during a time where many women really relied on having a husband to help with the finances, she supported all of this, these gardens, all the renovations and you know, the additions to the garden. Now, look at this view, you can see pictures of the garden um from the 1940s, it looked just like this view. It's, it's just stayed frozen in time and she afforded all of that and expansions on the house uh with her own money and this income she made primarily through her art. Uh She was a portrait artist and again, I've met many people and Raleigh who have uh a portrait that she painted for them. So this was a, she was very popular. She was in newspapers and magazines all the time. Uh She wrote and she wrote in magazines and garden magazines and uh art magazines and, and really shared her knowledge about gardening and art. Uh and she created this, this wonderland, um which was really kind of a private wonderland. Now, the house you see there, that house uh very historic house and has been almost torn down at least once, possibly twice. Um That home is very likely one of the oldest homes in historic Oberland Village. Uh see a little bee here. This garden is just full of life. And so that home was built in the 18 hundreds uh before Isabelle lived there. Uh There were other families that lived there. Uh The Hinton family lived there uh as well as the Haywood family and uh they married into the graves family. And the graves house seems to have been built a generation later. And that's one of the, you know, big Oberlin houses that you see when you drive through Oberlin Village, Oberland Village. Um just for context is a historic Friedman's village uh was formed by people who had been freed uh from the local plantations and area plantations uh after ended after the emancipation. So those historic Friedman's villages were very important to Raleigh's history. And only two of them remained standing today. But this house was part of that history, quite possibly one of the first houses in uh historic Oberland village. But when her family bought it and it would have been quite old by the time they bought it in the 1930s. Um if it had been built in the 1800s, but they decided they, they rather than tearing it down and starting new, they would keep it standing because they wanted to preserve that history. And so she kept that history alive and much of that house, if you step inside uh this weekend, they will let you go inside that house and you'll be able to see um some of that original history from Oberland Village as well. Oh, look, they've got a millstone used to decorate uh this private enclave. The secret garden has these old trees as you can see, some of them were lost during Fran uh but these trees are likely nearly a century old, if not older themselves. Uh Having seen a lot of history, there's also a carriage house and there is a uh a shedd, an herb garden. So there's more to the garden than just the plants. There's, there's an entire hidden enclave in here. We're gonna step inside and see some of the history she saved in here. Now, I will say uh her sister inherited this garden and this house when she passed away and she, her sister, um which is the grandmother of the person who lives here. Now, um literally saved this house uh from being demolished when the city of Raleigh. Look at that view through the window beautiful when the city of Raleigh uh wanted to build a five lane road uh right through this part of Raleigh, which of course was right near Hillsborough Street and what would have been Cameron Village at the time. So, uh there was a fight to save this house from destruction and generations of family have kept it up since then. Uh If that five lane road had been allowed to go through, it would have likely destroyed this house, the garden as well as uh historic Overland Village. So the people who lived in this house, the women who lived in this house have really fought to preserve it and the family that is here now, uh Russ Stevenson lives here. Now, it's been passed on through the generations and it's a testament to people who fight to preserve Raleigh's history. You can visit this house and the gardens this weekend, they're opening for one day only, uh Sunday, April two and uh you can come see it for yourself.
