DUNN, N.C. — School officials evacuated Coats Erwin Middle School in Dunn on Wednesday afternoon over concerns that there may be a bomb inside the building.

Authorities were ushering students out of the middle school at around noon on Wednesday.

Parents said they were told by the school that no vehicles were allowed on campus and bomb sniffing dogs were on site.

By 2 p.m., the school system had determined the threat was unfounded. "Coats Erwin Middle School facility is clear. Students and staff are safe," the school said in a statement.
