Coast Guard crew saves sea turtle in Oregon Inlet
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Park Service rescued a loggerhead sea turtle Sunday that had become ensnared in a fishing line in Oregon Inlet.
Posted — UpdatedWILMINGTON, N.C. — Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Park Service rescued a loggerhead sea turtle Sunday that had become ensnared in a fishing line in Oregon Inlet.
The Coast Guard said a boater reported seeing the turtle near Bonner Bridge, The animal was tangled in line and dragging a plastic bucket.
A crew from the Station Oregon Inlet, along with a park service agent, went to free the turtle and evaluate its condition. The loggerhead was in good condition and released.
