Jacob Strickland said he owes his $150,000 lottery win to a loss by his favorite football team.
Strickland was disappointed to see the Clemson Tigers lose to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Nov. 5.
Strickland said he bought a Powerball lottery ticket after the game thinking his luck couldn't get worse.
However, he ended up winning $50,000, which was multiplied to $150,000 with a “3-times power play multiplier.”
After taxes, Strickland will take home about $106,000.
He said he plans to invest some of the money and put the rest in savings.
