A man has been charged after a fight and shooting at a Clayton vape store on Sunday injured an employee.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A man has been charged after a fight and shooting at a Clayton vape store on Sunday injured an employee.

The Clayton Police Department said Richard Ben Cappelletti, 46, of Clayton, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Clayton police are asking help identifying the man accused of shooting a vape store employee on Sunday afternoon.

Police officers responded to Vape and Tobacco World, located in the Lowe's Foods shopping center on U.S. Highway 70 Business near Shotwell Road, around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The owner of the store, who asked not to be identified by WRAL News, said a customer came in and demanded a refund. The store's employee refused and got into a fight with the customer.

That's when the owner said the customer pulled out a gun and shot the employee in broad daylight. The employee was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Police said Cappelletti fled the area in a dark-colored Toyota Camry. He was being held at the Johnston County jail under a $250,000 bond.
