Man arrested after fight, shooting at Clayton vape store that injured employee
A man has been charged after a fight and shooting at a Clayton vape store on Sunday injured an employee.
Posted — UpdatedThe Clayton Police Department said Richard Ben Cappelletti, 46, of Clayton, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Police officers responded to Vape and Tobacco World, located in the Lowe's Foods shopping center on U.S. Highway 70 Business near Shotwell Road, around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The owner of the store, who asked not to be identified by WRAL News, said a customer came in and demanded a refund. The store's employee refused and got into a fight with the customer.
That's when the owner said the customer pulled out a gun and shot the employee in broad daylight. The employee was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.
Police said Cappelletti fled the area in a dark-colored Toyota Camry. He was being held at the Johnston County jail under a $250,000 bond.
