Clayton police searching for suspect in stabbing, crash

Clayton police on Monday identified a suspect in the death of a man found April 9 in his crashed vehicle near the intersection of Cameron Way and Shotwell Road.

CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police on Monday identified a suspect in the death of a man found April 9 in his crashed vehicle near the intersection of Cameron Way and Shotwell Road.

Dallas Lamar Phillips, 20, of 129 Hogan Drive in Garner is charged with first-degree murder. Phillips, who 5’4” tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds, was last seen at the Stalling Mill Apartments on U.S. Highway 70 in Clayton, near the scene of the crash.

Dustin Haywood Rogister of High Chaparral Drive in Clayton was found dead in a vehicle that crashed and knocked out power to an area of town. Police said it appears he died of a single stab wound to the chest.

Anyone with information about Phillips is asked to call 911.
