CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police arrested a woman and seized her car Friday after they found more than 20 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

Clayton officers stopped Trudy Monique Leon, 31, of 9921 Sweet Oak Drive, Apt. 304 in Raleigh, near U.S. Highway 70 Business and Towne Center Boulevard at around noon.

A K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the car. A search yielded two containers of marijuana wrapped in plastic tape to disguise the smell.

Police charged Leon with trafficking marijuana by possession and transportation and with maintaining a vehicle for keeping and storing narcotics. They also seized her 2002 BMW X5.

Leon was being held Friday in the Johnston County Jail under a $400,000 secure bond.
