CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police are asking for the public help catching someone they said is a serial pizza thief.

Officials released security footage Wednesday night that shows a man committing the crime around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, in the cul-de-sac of East Webber Lane in Riverwood Athletic Club in Clayton. You can see a man sneak up as the pizza delivery person was at the door. Police said the man showed a handgun, demanded the pizzas, took them and ran off into the woods.

Clayton police say they've also found out a Papa John's delivery drivers in Clayton have also been robbed three times in the past three weeks in this same area. No gun was reported in those incidents and the drivers did not report the crime at the time.

In each incident, officials said a man calls and orders pizzas using a random address on East Webber Lane and then waits to rob the driver of his pizza.

The suspect is described as a black man between age 16-21, 6-foot-0 and around 140 pounds with a skinny build and possible short to medium braids. He is sometimes wearing a homemade mask cut out of cloth and sometimes doesn't appear to be wearing shoes, according to officials.

If you have any information that may lead to an arrest, please call Clayton Police Detective Miller at (919) 553-4611 or email jmiller@townofclaytonnc.org. You can remain anonymous.
