CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton High School arts teacher is accused of shoplifting craft supplies from Walmart over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday.

Police were called to the Walmart at 805 Town Centre Blvd. on Saturday after loss-prevention officers spotted a woman placing items in her shopping cart concealed by a rain coat.

Walmart staffers said the woman went to a check-out line and paid for some items in her cart, but several items remained concealed by her coat, authorities said.

The woman was stopped on her way out with $224 in unpaid merchandise, authorities said.

Joanna Frantz was cited with misdemeanor larceny and released.
