RALEIGH, N.C. — Restaurants owners and employees will hear from Raleigh leaders on Thursday about the best practices they can use while operating during Phase 2.

The restaurant environment has already changed, with most servers wearing masks and spacing diners at tables 6 feet apart. At 11 a.m., a panel of experts will discuss curbside pickup options for restaurants and health and safety guidelines they should follow when serving customers indoors and outdoors.

Featured panelists include City of Raleigh transportation officials and restaurant leaders Daniel Palatucci, Operating Partner at Flying Biscuit, and Jason Smith, Chef-Proprietor for 18 Restaurant Group, which owns Cantina 18.

New rules are expected to be announced that would apply to diners looking to eat inside or outside at Raleigh restaurants.

Since Gov. Roy Cooper allowed restaurants to reopen their indoor dining operations on May 22 when North Carolina entered Phase 2, many decided to remain closed. Others opened but report fewer customers than before the pandemic.

WRAL will monitor the 11 a.m. meeting and provide updates.
