The City of Raleigh has a child care option for parents left trying to find a place for their children to stay when Wake County Public Schools cancels classes.

The city's "Weather Bound" child care program is available for kids ages 5 to 11 on Monday, Jan. 24, as schools remain closed due to icy conditions on secondary roads.

Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., staff will keep children entertained with sports, crafts, games, computer games, movies and outdoor play at three community centers in Raleigh.

Parents are asked to pack their child's lunch along with two snacks, drinks and a change of clothes.

  • John Chavis Memorial Park, 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Raleigh
  • Marsh Creek, 3050 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh
  • Abbotts Creek, 9950 Durant Road, Raleigh

The cost is $30 for Raleigh residents and $45 for non-residents.
