RALEIGH, N.C. — As long as you don't mind missing out on a White Christmas this year, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be ideal.

Temperatures early Monday morning were at least 14 degrees warmer than those recorded Sunday. Christmas Eve will be a mild winter day, with plenty of sunshine, clear skies and highs around 52 degrees.

Christmas Eve forecast

According to WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell, the calm conditions will be perfect for Santa and his reindeer as well as those headed to Christmas Eve services.

Although the Christmas Eve day will be milder, temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight, so bundle up if you have plans to head out for church or dinner after dark. Tuesday will also be merry and bright, with sunshine and seasonal winter temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Christmas forecast

Kids will be able to play with their new toys outdoors without worrying about rain, according to Campbell. After Christmas, Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly warmer, with highs in the mid 50s. A chance for rain won't come again until Friday, which will be much warmer, with highs in the 60s.
