Chocolate Coffee Beans With a Story

I was deep into a new book, “The Monk of Mokha” by Dave Eggers, about a young Yemeni-American named Mokhtar Alkhanshali, who has been reviving the coffee trade in Yemen, its country of origin. Then, from Dandelion Chocolate, a company in San Francisco, a box of chocolate-covered, cocoa-dusted coffee beans labeled Mokha was dropped on my desk. An intriguing coincidence for me but worth the indulgence for any coffee and chocolate lover. Even if you do not read the book, you can appreciate the confection because the box includes a brief explanation of Alkhanshali’s story: Mokha Mocha Beans, $28 for six ounces, Dandelion Chocolate, dandelionchocolate.com.
