Children charged with setting fire to Rocky Mount house

Two 10-year-olds and a 9-year-old were charged with setting a house on fire in Rocky Mount Monday evening, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Two 10-year-olds and a 9-year-old were charged with setting a house on fire in Rocky Mount Monday evening, police said.

Police said that neighbors saw the children running from the burning house at 1917 Waltrip St. around 7:45 p.m. Investigators determined that the children set a fire with matches and burned a door, wall frame and floor of the home, police said.

No one was injured.

The children were charged as juveniles with burning an unoccupied dwelling and released into the custody of their parents.
