Charlotte prostitution suspect charged with shoplifting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman charged with running a prostitution ring that catered to affluent clients in Charlotte and Raleigh faces charges of shoplifting.

Sallie Wamsley Saxon, 58, of Charlotte, is accused of taking a shirt, a pair of shorts and a wallet from a Stein Mart in Charlotte last week. The items totaled $50.

Saxon was arrested Monday.

Saxon pleaded guilty in January to conspiring to entice women to cross state lines to engage in prostitution, and conspiring to commit money laundering. She is awaiting sentencing.
