PINEVILLE, N.C. — A Charlotte-area mall was evacuated Saturday after reports of gunshots.

Officers responded to shots fired inside Carolina Place Mall in Pineville on Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, "it appears two individuals began shooting at one another for an unknown reason."

Two people were shot, while officials say one person was injured with a non-life threatening wound. The other person's injuries were also minor.

"I think the most important thing is that this was not a random event. As far as we can tell...it's not random. I would feel safe sending my family back here to shop," said a spokesperson from the Pineville police during a press conference.

Officials said they have no suspect in custody at this time.
