Charge dropped in Raleigh cabbie's slaying

Raleigh police have dropped the charges against one man arrested in the stabbing death of a cab driver last year.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have dropped the charges against one man arrested in the stabbing death of a cab driver last year.

Officers found Sabiu Tukur, 52, bleeding inside his cab in April 2008 after it crashed into a fence in the 1100 block of Brighton Road.

Joseph Emmanual Caldwell, 24, was charged with murder and armed robbery, and Davin Jerome Heard, 28, was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, police said.

On Tuesday, police announced they had dropped the charge against Heard.
