Pittsboro, N.C. — A Chapel Hill woman ran over a man north of Pittsboro early Thursday after they got into an argument and he got out of her car, state troopers said.
Troopers said that Margaret Jones, 23, argued with two passengers in the back seat of her 2004 Cadillac. She pulled over along Rusell Chapel Road around 1 a.m., and the men got out of the car.
Jones took off and struck Charles Washington Jr., 20, of Pittsboro, as he was walking beside the road, troopers said.
Washington suffered serious injuries and was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. An update on his condition wasn't available.
Jones was treated at a Chatham County hospital for an injury to her hand, troopers said.
She was charged with driving while impaired and failure to reduce speed to avoid striking a pedestrian.
