Chapel Hill police locate runaway teen

Police in Chapel Hill were searching for a missing teenager this week but announced Thursday that he was located and is unharmed and safe.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police in Chapel Hill were searching for a missing teenager this week but announced Thursday that he was located and is unharmed and safe.

Alexander Mireles, 16, is described as a Hispanic male. He stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue sweater.

Police say Mireles ran away from home and was last seen Monday around 5 p.m. at 500 Umstead Drive.
