Chapel Hill man sentenced on child porn charges

A 48-year-old Chapel Hill man was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession child pornography after a monthlong investigation by the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A Chapel Hill man has been convicted of federal charges of possessing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Ripley Rand announced Friday.

Daniel Robert Hunsberger, 49, of 3001-A Vernon Drive, was sentenced to 8 years in prison, followed 20 years of supervised release.

Prosecutors said that the Orange County Sheriff's Office investigated Hunsberger using specialized online tools to detect computers configured to share files previously identify as containing child pornography.

Twenty-two images of child porn were found on Hunsberger's computer, prosecutors said.
