THEY AGREED ON A GOAL GIVE METS TO 80 PEOPLE ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE WITHIN THEIR SAFETY AND COMFORT OF THEIR OWN HOMES. THEY NEEDED A SENSIBLE SOLUTION. SO I HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REUSABLE SO THAT PEOPLE WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THROWING IT OUT. IT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT MORE WASTE. SENSIBLE IS THE NAME OF THE MENSTRUAL PAD. >> BEYOND ITS USUAL USE THE PAD CAN ALSO SCREEN FOR CERVICAL DISEASE IS THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A RISK FOR GETTING CERVICAL CANCER. STD LIKE HPV. THE TEENS SAY MANY FAMILIES AREN'T COMFORTABLE DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES. WE REALIZED THAT TALKING ABOUT IS THE FIRST STEP TO BREAKING DOWN THAT BARRIER. Dr. Anita Skariah, an internist with UNC Health who treats women at various stages of life, calls women master multitaskers. Skariah said most women she sees all have one thing in common -- they put their health on the back burner.

One thing I keep saying is many women are like master multitaskers. And so, you know, there are oftentimes like caretaking Children, grandchildren, partners, elderly parents or family members while running households and also managing careers outside of the home a lot of times. And so it's not surprising that there's little margin for self care. I think a lot of women struggle with anxiety and depression and aren't even aware of it. The signs and symptoms are very subtle and it may just be feeling tired all the time or just not wanting to do what you need to get done, just kind of moving through mud kind of feel. And so I think it's important to kind of bring those up to your primary care provider just to make sure that that's not the issue, even if you think it's such a small item or something, that's really not that important. You'd be surprised how much it actually could be a telltale sign of something else you give out of overflow. When your cup is dry, you cannot give. Right. And so I tell them, you know, just make sure you're carving time for yourself. Exercises, keep walking getting steps in eating healthy. These are things that protect the body for problems that can show up later. It's a lifetime of mala adaptive strategies that get us to a point of having disease. Like so if we can catch it early and get you on the right path, you'll be in a better position as you age.
