Several images and videos of a waterspout were sent to WRAL from multiple sources, who reported seeing the waterspout at Atlantic Beach, Caswell Beach and Emerald Isle.
One observer sent video from Caswell Beach, saying it was around 3 p.m. on July 6.
Another image was taken from a vantage point of someone already on the ocean. Parker Yount of Raleigh, who took the photo from a boat, wrote, "Waterspout seen just off Caswell Beach - due west past Oak Island Lighthouse."
They said it was traveling west from Provision Company restaurant, towards the Oak Island Bridge.
Reports of the waterspout on Atlantic Beach came in around 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6.
Another observer said they saw a water spout on Caswell Beach at 3 p.m. and watched from the balcony. They sent video of the view.
Another photo was sent from the vantage point of the beach on Oak Island.
One frightening image shows crowds gathered on the beach, which the observer stated to be Emerald Isle, watching as the waterspout forms.
