Man arrested after shots fired in drug-related incident at Cary hotel

Cary Police evacuated an Extended Stay hotel after responding to a call of shots fired on Saturday afternoon.

CARY, N.C. — Cary Police evacuated an Extended Stay hotel after responding to a call of shots fired on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, police announced Ledaries Jequan Shaw was arrested in connection with the case. Shaw was charged with possessing a firearm by a felon and possession of cocaine.

Police said the incident was drug-related and there is still no victim as of Sunday morning.

Shaw had several outstanding warrants for charges such as fleeing arrest in a motor vehicle, trafficking cocaine and resisting a public officer.

On Saturday, around 50 hotel guests were seen standing around outside.

Several evacuees said they heard loud noises like gunshots. Officers went room-to-room to search for possible victims.

Officers responded to the hotel at 600 Weston Parkway at 4:07 p.m.
