— Traffic has returned to normal after a wreck forced authorities to shut down parts of Southwest Cary Parkway on Monday evening.

The driver of a white pickup truck turned into oncoming traffic while turning onto West Chatham Street from Cary Parkway shortly after 5 p.m., police said. A silver pickup traveling from Old Apex Road on Cary Parkway hit the white pickup truck.

One person was transported to a local hospital, but police did not say which vehicle that person had occupied.

Sky5 video of the scene showed one pickup truck had gone of the side of the road and hit a tree. Officers were examining a second pickup truck in the intersection.

Cary Parkway was reopened by 6 p.m., officials said.

Officers did not say what caused the wreck or if any charges would be filed.
