CARY, N.C. — A Cary mansion listed at $9 million could be the most expensive home ever sold in the local market if sold at that price, a spokesperson from Triangle Multiple Listing Service confirms.

A home in Rougemont, N.C., sold for $7 million in 2020 and is the most expensive home to sell in the Triangle MLS yet.

2029 Giovanni Court, a 13,000 sq. ft. home in Renaissance at Regency Estates, could break that record.

The 6 bedroom, 7.5 bathroom home near Koka Booth Amphitheatre offers views of Symphony Lake, according to its listing.

The home was built in 2014 and has a "classic design and impeccable attention to detail," containing multiple bedroom suites, two kitchens, over 3,500 sq. ft. of entertainment and exercise space, verandas, multi-level terraces, a saltwater pool and a spa.

The home was listed Friday morning and is just one example of the competitive market buyers are facing.

Homes in a new townhome community, West End Townes, located off Western Boulevard near Blue Ridge Road and the old K-Mart site, are listed at over $500,000. One lot hits the market at 5 p.m. on Friday, and the others will be released in March, the website states.

Triangle real estate market is on fire

Earlier this week, a local realtor used her cell phone to capture video of dozens of interested homebuyers swarming a Raleigh home listed at $260,000. Less than 8.5% of homes listed for sale across 16 counties in N.C. are in the $209,000 to $288,000 price range, according to data from Triangle MLS.

The video went viral, with others using it as an example to show the state of the Triangle housing market.

One homeowner told WRAL News an investor from California purchased a home sight-unseen, seeing no interior photos, for 20% over the asking price. Some realtors said they have fielded offers as high as $1 million over the listing price in the Raleigh market.

WRAL TechWire reports other Triangle MLS data shows that inventory continues to remain at historically low levels, and the pace and price of the market in Wake County is among the fastest market ever.

The median price for a home in Wake County in January was $434,000.
