CARY, N.C. — A man is charged with trying to rob someone outside a Cary bank Wednesday, which forced a high school to go into lockdown, police said Friday.

Jeremiah Calvin Osterhoudt, 35, of River Walk Circle, is charged with attempted robbery.

Investigators said Osterhoudt got into an occupied vehicle outside of the BB&T Bank, 848 SE Maynard Road, and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot, prompting officials to lock down Cary High School as a precaution.

Osterhoudt was arrested after a citizen tipped off police.

He was being held at the Wake County Public Safety Center on Friday.
