Cary High band director suspended during investigation

Bryant said he was "aware of unfounded rumors" and said the investigation does not involve "allegations of physical interactions."

He wrote:

On March 5th, Mr. Minick was suspended with pay while the school system reviews concerns brought to our attention.

I hope you can appreciate that personnel matters are sensitive, and by law I am very limited in what I can discuss publicly. Please be assured that the district takes any complaints against personnel seriously and is committed to fair and thorough investigations and resolutions of such matters.

I also want to acknowledge that I am aware of unfounded rumors about this situation. With Mr. Minnick's consent, I am able to inform you that at this time, this matter does not involve any allegations of physical interactions.

A former student who did not want to be identified told WRAL News on Tuesday that he sent emails in 2010 and 2011 to the human resources department at Wake County school outlining concerns about Minick.

Bryant said "a substitute teacher, a professional band clinician and a volunteer" would work with the band to help them prepare for upcoming competitions.

Cary's band performs at high school football games in the fall, at an annual holiday concert, in the North Carolina Bandmasters Association district concert band festival and spring concerts.
