Cary High band director resigns after suspension, investigation
Cary High School's band director has submitted his resignation following a suspension and an internal investigation.
Posted — UpdatedPrincipal Nolan Bryant sent a statement to the school community on Friday to tell parents, staff and students that Matt Minick submitted his resignation and that he "will not be returning" to the school.
In the email, Bryant said privacy laws prevented him from sharing additional details.
Bryant said the investigation did not involve "allegations of physical interactions."
A former student who did not want to be identified told WRAL News that he sent emails in 2010 and 2011 to the human resources department at Wake County school outlining concerns about Minick. Bryant said Eric Grush will serve as interim band director through the end of the year.
Cary's band performs at high school football games in the fall, at an annual holiday concert, in the North Carolina Bandmasters Association district concert band festival and spring concerts.
