Cary elementary school sends Girl Scout cookies as Valentines Day care package
Students at Green Hope Elementary in Cary sent their love in the form of Girl Scout Cookies. Nearly 150 boxes shipped to a teacher's husband - an airman from Fort Bragg on his first deployment to the Middle East. Teachers and staff bought the cookies, students made hundreds of Valentine's cards and decorated the boxes for shipping. They arrived in time for Valentines Day.

First grade teacher Caitlin Wilson's husband, Matthew, an airman at Fort Bragg, was deployed to the Middle East in January after they had a baby. Although he was away in another country, Wilson wanted him to know that she was thankful and she loves him. She encouraged her students to send messages of support. "Some of us drew thank you. Some of us drew American flags, and hearts and all of that," said Wilson.
They call it Operation Send Love to The Military. Teachers and staff bought nearly 150 boxes of cookies from Madi Kelly, a Girl Scout Brownie and Wilson's second grade student.
Wilson can't say exactly where her husband is deployed, but she can say that the cookies arrived in time.
Wilson aches for her husband's return. "I asked him how did the men and women feel about the cookies. He said they're a hot item, and we're excited to have something that reminds them of home," said Wilson. Her coworkers and students have been so supportive of her and has shown her what love is about. "They're so supportive. I can't tell you how much they're like my family," said Wilson.
