Carthage woman held on drug charges

A Carthage woman was charged Friday after deputies said she illegally obtained prescription drugs.

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — A Carthage woman was charged Friday after deputies said she illegally obtained prescription drugs.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office charged Jennifer Lynn Wood, 25, of the 300 block of Barrett Street, with two counts of felony trafficking in opiates, felony obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation to a health care provider and felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Deputies said Wood fraudulently obtained 90 Endocet pills and 210 doses of methadone.

She was held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

A Candor woman was arrested on similar charges in a separate investigation Wednesday, deputies said.

Sallie Anne Steele, 45, of the 300 block of Robinson Road, is charged with felony trafficking in opiates and felony obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation to a health care provider.

Deputies said Candor fraudulently obtained 90 Endocet pills. She was held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
