Carthage man charged after teen shot in head

Carthage, N.C. — A Carthage man has been arrested on assault charges following the Jan. 7 shooting of a 16-year-old.
The shooting occurred in the Lobelia area of Moore County. The victim was transported by helicopter to UNC-Chapel Hill for a gunshot wound to the head but is expected to recover from his injuries.
Cameron Justice Callicutt, 20, was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He was being held Thursday at the Moore County Detention Center under $200,000 secured bond. A court date was scheduled for Jan. 15.
