Carjacking ends in crash on Durham's Dearborn Drive

A car stolen from the 2500 block of North Roxboro Street in Durham Thursday afternoon was found a short time later, about two miles away.

DURHAM, N.C. — A car stolen from the 2500 block of North Roxboro Street in Durham Thursday afternoon was found a short time later, about two miles away.

Durham police told WRAL News that a black BMW was carjacked just before 3 p.m. from Roxboro Street. Minutes later, dispatchers called for police to respond to a crash on Dearborn Drive. Police then confirmed that the two incidents were one.

It appeared that the car had been driven onto a footpath and into a street sign, where it came to rest.

Police had not made an arrest in the carjacking, and no injuries were reported.
