Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives released surveillance images Tuesday in hopes someone can identify the suspect in a car theft.

The sheriff's office said a black man, wearing a black hat, brown coat, red T-shirt, white tennis shoes and dark pants, took the car from outside the Kangaroo convenience store on Gillespie Street. He appears to be about 6 feet tall and weigh approximately 170 pounds.

The images show the suspect inside the store.

Deputies said the car, a black, 1993 Honda Accord with North Carolina license plate KSW 4861, was left running with the keys inside. The owner was inside the story paying for gas when it was stolen.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or call an anonymous tip to 910-484-TIPS (8477).
