The car of a North Carolina man reported missing in 2006 was found in a lake with human remains inside, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Dedrick Bernard Smith, 26, was last seen driving the same 1993 Pontiac Grand Am that officials pulled from Winston Lake this week.

Human remains were found inside, according to police, and investigators were working with the state medical examiner's office to determine if those remains were Smith's.
A group called Adventures With Purpose, known for helping solve cold cases, searched the lake using sonar technology. The group has more than a million followers on Facebook and 2 million on YouTube.
The group also helped police on Monday recover a second vehicle from Winston Lake, a minivan.
According to a post on Adventures with Purpose's Facebook, the team began their search on April 1, and by late afternoon, they had located his car in 14 feet of water.
In their post explaining the experience, they wrote, "Dedrick was last seen at his girlfriend's home when she went out in the middle of the night to get food, and when she returned he was gone."
"At this moment we want to take a moment to express our sympathies to Dedrick's family as they navigate this tragic outcome to a nightmare that has lasted 15 years," the team wrote on their page.
The post stated that an edited episode of the team's role in the case will be released in a few weeks.
