Documents from Chevrolet show there have been hundreds of reports of car hoods flying open while driving, and 22 times it's caused a crash.

The problem is with a hood latch in the Spark" and Spark EV models from 2013 through 2015.

Around 120,000 of the cars have been recalled because of the issue.

Those who need to get the latch replaced will be contacted by mail starting Oct. 10. Car owners can also contact Chevrolet at 800-222-1020. Chevrolet dealers will replace the latch for free.

Chevrolet did a recall for this same problem in 2014, but the replacement latches used need to be replaced again. Consumer Reports says the replacement latches were prone to corrosion.
