A car struck a pedestrian trying to cross Western Boulevard Saturday afternoon, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A car struck a pedestrian trying to cross Western Boulevard Saturday afternoon, police said.

A accident occurred along Western Boulevard near Avent Ferry Drive around 2 p.m. The victim was transported to WakeMed, but officials did not released information about her condition.

Officials withheld the identity of the woman.

Traffic backed up at the Western Boulevard-Avent Ferry intersection for about a half hour.
