RALEIGH, N.C. — On Saturday evening, a vehicle flipped four times before crashing into a power pole in North Raleigh.

Just after 7 p.m., an emergency crew was on the scene at Creedmoor Road and Southampton Drive, towing a Mercedes that had crashed.

According to Highway Patrol, the Mercedes was traveling north on Creedmoor Road, going over the speed limit by about 25mph.

The driver of the Mercedes passed the intersection of South Hampton Drive, where a white SUV pulled out into the northbound lanes and clipped the back end of the Mercedes.

That caused the vehicle to spin out before flipping at least four times.

As the car was airborne, it took out a power pole by snapping it in half.

Duke Energy Crews said they will have to replace the pole and fix the transformer attached to it. The crash caused significant damage, knocking out power to several residents nearby.

The driver of the Mercedes is expected to recover after being taken to WakeMed with minor injuries.

A trooper investigating the crash told WRAL News that speed was a major factor.

Creedmoor Road is now open.
