A car crashed into a Fayetteville Rite Aide store on Morganton Road Saturday afternoon, police said.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and a customer was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Authorities on Sunday said the driver was an elderly woman who struck the building accidentally when she stepped on the gas instead of the break.

The woman damaged some of the electrical wiring when she hit the door, authorities said.

The Fayetteville Fire Department deemed the building unsafe for entry and said it will remain closed for up to seven days as repairs are made.
