Car crash knocks down power pole, closes road in Clayton, sends one to hospital

A crash involving one vehicle sent three to the hospital, resulted in a power pole being split into two pieces and closed a road in Clayton on Tuesday.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A crash involving one vehicle sent three to the hospital, resulted in a power pole being split into two pieces and closed a road in Clayton on Tuesday.

The Town of Clayton's public information officer told WRAL's Rosalia Fodera the crash happened at 2027 Glen Laurel Rd. in Clayton Tuesday night. One of the three people involved in the crash, an unidentified man, was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other two in the vehicle refused trips to the hospital.

Officials said alcohol was not a factor.

Glen Laurel Road was closed for several hours while electric crews make repairs. Town of Clayton officials said about 2,500 customers were impacted by loss of power during the repairs.
