RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s new terminal will feature Carolina Ale House and 42nd Street Oyster Bar restaurants when it opens in the summer of 2008.

Also joining the list of restaurants is Brookwood Farms, which specializes in North Carolina barbecue.

The RDU Airport Authority has approved a Host proposal for a variety of restaurant and retail store concepts. The new terminal will cover 900,000 square feet.

Retailers expected to be located in the terminal include The Paradies Shops, JQ Enterprises, 2nd Edition Booksellers and Borders Inc. 2nd Edition Booksellers already operates a store in Terminal A. JQ Enterprises plans to open a Bruegger’s Bagels, A&W All American Food and a KFC.

The Paradies Shops wants to open A Southern Season, Drugs & More, Brooks Brothers, PGA Tour Shop, University News & Sports and Taxco Sterling shops. It already operates shops at RDU.

“From the beginning, RDU’s commitment has been to build a terminal that is tailored to our travelers’ needs, as well as one that reflects the uniqueness of our region,” said RDU Airport Director John Brantley, “The addition of regionally based restaurants and shops brings the flavor of the Triangle into the terminal.”

The Airport Authority is still accepting proposals for additional stores and restaurants and will do so through December.
