ROCKY POINT, N.C. — Cosmetics maker Coty Inc. said Friday that it would end production at its Rocky Point plant by next summer, eliminating about 330 jobs.

The company also is shutting down its distribution center at the plant by the end of December, which eliminates another 100 jobs.

Coty decided in May 2009 to shutter the Rocky Point operation as part of a consolidation effort and has tried since then to find a buyer, officials said. No deal surfaced for the plant, so the company is moving forward with its plan to close the plant.

The plant, which Coty acquired three years ago from Del Laboratories, makes Sally Hansen and New York Color Nail Color and Treatments, Sally Hansen Bleaches and Depilatories and the packaging of La Cross Beauty Tools.
