Tarboro, N.C. — A foam products plant opened Thursday, bringing 50 jobs and a $7 million investment to Tarboro.
Spongex LLC is located in a 266,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at 3002 Anaconda Road. The company expects to double its work force in three years, officials said.
Using a proprietary technology, Spongex manufactures molded, closed-cell foam products, including luxury aquatic floats, aquatic exercise equipment, swim training accessories, pool and spa cushions, commercial floats and buoys and custom-molded products.
Spongex is affiliated with Zebulon-based Nomaco, which makes custom-engineered foam products.
